Keep kids busy until midnight
Waiting for the countdown is the longest part of New Year's Eve for children. A few rounds of bingo fill the evening, and the words build excitement for the big moment: ball drop, sparkler, noisemaker, party hat, confetti and, of course, "Happy New Year". Each of the 30 cards has its own mix of 24 words from a list of 28.
Back to school in January
New Year bingo is also a calm first-week activity when classes come back. Use the game, then ask each student to write one resolution that uses a word from their card, like a goal, a wish or a fresh start. It's a gentle way back into writing after the break.
Party variations
- Play a round every half hour and give a small prize to each winner.
- Midnight blackout: the last round lasts until someone fills the whole card, timed to finish near midnight.
- Make it a family quiz by adding names of the year's big moments to the list.
Print-friendly by default
This set uses the Plain theme, so it prints quickly in black and white with no border to waste ink. Switch the theme to Winter for a snowy look. The year 2027 is already in the word list; edit it if you're playing in a different year. As always, the caller sheet comes last and can be cut into slips.
