The multiplication year
3rd grade is when multiplication facts arrive, and learning all of them up to 10 × 10 is the main math goal of the year. Short daily practice works far better than long sessions. The 3rd grade math generator builds a new page of multiplication facts each time, so children practise the facts rather than remembering last week's answers.
Building the facts in order
- Start with the easy tables: 2, 5 and 10.
- Add 3 and 4, then 6, 7, 8 and 9, the tables most children find hardest.
- Use the smallest and largest number settings to focus a sheet on just the tables you're working on.
Time one sheet a week and record the score. Children love seeing their time drop, and you'll see at a glance which facts need more work.
Puzzles with real challenge
Word searches at the Hard level hide words backwards as well as diagonally, which keeps fast 3rd grade readers busy. The holiday puzzles include tricky spellings such as "mistletoe", "cranberry" and "sufganiyot". After the puzzle, ask children to write a short paragraph using five of the words.
Class party games
Bingo is the easiest game for a class party: print a set of different cards, read from the caller sheet and let the class play. The Christmas, winter and New Year sets have long word lists, so no two cards are the same. Number bingo can double as a times-table game: call "6 times 7" instead of 42.
Every sheet is free, needs no signup and can be changed before you print.
