One puzzle for the whole season
Not every classroom celebrates the same holidays, and January still needs activities. This winter word search sticks to the season itself: snowflake, mittens, blizzard, igloo, penguin, cocoa, sledding and more. You can use it before the break, after it, or on a snow day at home.
Ideas to extend it
- Science link: talk about how icicles and frost form after finding those words.
- Writing: students write a "perfect snow day" story using at least six words from the list.
- Vocabulary: sort the words into things you wear, things you do and things you see.
Level it up or down
The 14 × 14 grid with diagonal words suits grades 1–3. For kindergarten, choose Easy, a 10 × 10 grid and short words such as snow, hat, cold and ice. For older students, Hard difficulty hides words backwards, and you can add tougher vocabulary like hibernate or precipitation.
