Holiday fun with real spelling practice
This Christmas word search hides 16 words on a 15 × 15 grid: reindeer, stocking, mistletoe, gingerbread and more. Two-word phrases like "candy cane" are joined in the grid but printed normally in the word list, so children still see how they're spelled.
For every age
- Little ones: set Easy and a 10 × 10 grid, and use short words: elf, star, bell, gift, tree, joy.
- Middle grades: Medium includes diagonal words.
- Older kids and adults: Hard hides words backwards too, which makes a good party puzzle.
Class party and winter break ideas
- Add every student's name to the list for a personalised class puzzle.
- Make two versions with different seeds and race table against table.
- Send one home for the holidays with the solution page kept back until January.
