No easy points on this page
The 0, 1 and 10 times tables tend to come quickly, so this sheet leaves them out. Every one of its 30 problems uses factors from 2 to 9, which puts the focus on the facts third graders need the most repetition with. It makes a useful December check on which tables have really stuck.
Twelve days of multiplication
Use the carol as a word problem starter. A partridge in a pear tree on each of the 12 days makes 12 partridges. How many French hens arrive if 3 are given on each of 10 days? Students can then invent their own verses and swap with a partner.
Warm-up routine for busy weeks
- Monday: complete the page and mark the facts that took longest.
- Wednesday: press "New sheet" and try again, watching those same tables.
- Friday: compare the two scores and celebrate any improvement.
Other ways to use it
Use it as an early-finisher page during concert rehearsal weeks. For an extra challenge, change the operation to Division with the same range, so students practise each fact in reverse.
