Sharing is a Thanksgiving idea

Division is about sharing equally, and few days involve more sharing than Thanksgiving. This page has 24 division facts built from the times tables up to 12 × 12, so every answer is a whole number. It suits a warm-up in the days when you don't want to start a new long-division unit before the break.

Turn facts into a sharing challenge

Give students a recipe with amounts for 12 people and ask them to work out the amounts for 4 or 6. Or pose a real planning question: 48 rolls are shared across 8 tables, so how many go on each table? Fourth graders enjoy problems that sound like something an adult would actually need to solve.

Connect back to multiplication

Have students check each answer by multiplying it by the divisor. If 72 ÷ 8 = 9, then 9 × 8 must make 72. This habit catches mistakes and reinforces the link between the two operations.

Focus on the hard facts

Set the number range to 6–9 to concentrate on the facts students miss most. To cover less ground, lower the problem count to 12.
