How to write 1
One is the simplest number to write: a single straight line from the top line down to the baseline. Children often make it short or slanted, so aim for a line as tall as a capital letter.
Number facts for one
One more than one is 2, and one less is 0. 1 is odd, so one sock has no partner. On a ten-frame it leaves 4 empty boxes in the top row. Count on from 1: 2, 3, 4. Count back: 0.
One in real life
Go on a "one hunt" around the house: one nose, one door, one sun in the sky. Draw one of each in the empty row, then hold up one finger for every 1 traced.

A solid 1 with a numbered arrow comes first, then dotted copies, the word "one" and an empty row to write alone. When it feels easy, try 2.
