How to write 6
Six is one stroke: start at the top right, curve down the left side to the bottom, and curl round into a closed loop at the bottom.
Number facts for six
One more than six is 7, and one less is 5. 6 is even, so 6 socks make 3 matching pairs. You can make six as 5 + 1, 4 + 2 or 3 + 3. On a ten-frame it is a full row of five and 1 more. Count on from 6: 7, 8, 9. Count back: 5, 4, 3.
Six in real life
A half-dozen egg box has six cups. Fill each cup with a small toy, counting as you go, then tip them out and count again. Insects have six legs, too: draw a beetle and count its legs.

A solid 6 with a numbered arrow comes first, then dotted copies, the word "six" and an empty row to write alone. When it feels easy, try 7.
