How to write C and c
Both C and c are a single curve. Start a little below the top on the right (for c, just below the midline), go up and over to the left, round the bottom, and stop before the circle closes. It is the same movement as the start of a, d, g, o and q, so a child who masters c has a head start on five more letters.
The C sound
C usually makes a hard /k/ sound, as in cat, cup and cow, and a soft /s/ sound before e, i and y, as in city and cent.
Words to say and draw: cat, cup, cow, cake, carrot.
What's on the sheet
The first C and the first c are solid, with numbered dots and arrows showing where each stroke starts and which way it goes. The rest of each row is dotted for tracing. Next comes a row of c words to trace, then an empty row for writing C and c alone. Choose Large for Pre-K or Medium for kindergarten, or switch to uppercase or lowercase only.
Activity idea
Cut cookie shapes from card and write C on half of them and c on the rest. Your child "bakes" a tray by sorting the cookies onto two plates, one for big C and one for little c.
