How to write H and h
Capital H has three strokes: a line down on the left, a line down on the right, then a bridge across the middle. Lowercase h is a tall line from the top line to the baseline, then, from partway down that line, a hump over to the right and down to the baseline, like the back of a chair.
The H sound
H is just a breath. Hold a hand in front of your mouth and feel the air on "h-h-hat" and "h-h-hen".
Words to say and draw: hat, hen, hand, house, horse.
What's on the sheet
The first H and the first h are solid, with numbered dots and arrows showing where each stroke starts and which way it goes. The rest of each row is dotted for tracing. Next comes a row of h words to trace, then an empty row for writing H and h alone. Choose Large for Pre-K or Medium for kindergarten, or switch to uppercase or lowercase only.
Activity idea
Draw around your child's hand and write H or h on each finger in a different colour. Count the letters together, then let your child trace the hand outline as extra pencil practice.
