How to write N and n
Capital N: pull down on the left. Back at the top, slant all the way down to the bottom right, then go straight up to the top line. Lowercase n is a short line down from the midline, then one hump from the line over and down to the baseline. It is an m with one hump instead of two.
The N sound
N is said through the nose. Pinch it gently while saying "n-n-nest" and the sound stops.
Words to say and draw: nest, net, nut, nose, nine.
What's on the sheet
The first N and the first n are solid, with numbered dots and arrows showing where each stroke starts and which way it goes. The rest of each row is dotted for tracing. Next comes a row of n words to trace, then an empty row for writing N and n alone. Choose Large for Pre-K or Medium for kindergarten, or switch to uppercase or lowercase only.
Activity idea
Make a nest from a paper bowl and shredded paper, and fill it with paper eggs labelled with different letters. Your child takes out only the eggs marked N or n.
