How to write F and f
Capital F is E without the bottom line: a line down, a line across the top and a shorter line across the middle. Lowercase f starts just below the top line on the right. Curve up and over to the left like a candy cane, pull straight down to the baseline, then cross it on the midline.
The F sound
F is a quiet, breathy sound made by resting the top teeth on the bottom lip and blowing, as in fish, fox and frog.
Words to say and draw: fish, fox, frog, fan, feather.
What's on the sheet
The first F and the first f are solid, with numbered dots and arrows showing where each stroke starts and which way it goes. The rest of each row is dotted for tracing. Next comes a row of f words to trace, then an empty row for writing F and f alone. Choose Large for Pre-K or Medium for kindergarten, or switch to uppercase or lowercase only.
Activity idea
Lay paper lily pads on the floor with f, t, l and other tall letters on them. Your child hops like a frog onto the f pads only, saying "f-f-frog" with each jump.
