How to write G and g
Capital G begins exactly like C, curving counter-clockwise from the upper right, but it keeps going up to the middle on the right and turns in with a short line. It is all one stroke. Lowercase g starts like a, with a small circle drawn counter-clockwise, then a line down from the midline to below the baseline with a hook curving left.
The G sound
G has a hard sound in goat, gift and gate, and a soft /j/ sound in words like giraffe and gem.
Words to say and draw: goat, gift, gate, gum, garden.
What's on the sheet
The first G and the first g are solid, with numbered dots and arrows showing where each stroke starts and which way it goes. The rest of each row is dotted for tracing. Next comes a row of g words to trace, then an empty row for writing G and g alone. Choose Large for Pre-K or Medium for kindergarten, or switch to uppercase or lowercase only.
Activity idea
Plant a "letter garden": stick paper flowers marked G and g into a lump of play dough, and say a g word for each flower your child plants.
